 California Coast Language Academy General English classes are excellent for students wishing to improve their written, spoken, and listening skills in English. CCLA's general intensive program includes four hours of classroom instruction and one hour of an optional conversation cafe at an off campus site. There are generally three or four levels of English courses. The classes are 50 minutes in length and are conversationally based classes.
Communication Skills in Grammar This class focuses on understanding and using grammatical structures in English. This course allows students to focus on the grammatical aspects of the English language in an academic environment with emphasis on oral and written usage of English gra mmar.
Communication Skills in Reading and Vocabulary This class focuses on building vocabulary in English. This course allows students to focus on the development of vocabulary and pronunciation of the English language in an academic environment with emphasis on oral and written usage of English vocabulary.
Communication Skills in Composition This classes focuses on improving English writing skills. This course allows students to focus on the skills needed to perform will in writing English in a business, academic, or personal writing situation.
Communication Skills in Speaking and Pronunciation This classes focuses on the development of English speaking and listening skills. This course allows students to focus on the skills needed to understand spoken English and to speak clearly in English using an American pronunciation.
TOEFL, Cambridge, and TOEIC Preparation Students wishing to take a TOEFL, Cambridge, or TOEIC Test Preparation class may sign up for seperate academic classes at the beginning of each term. The institutional TOEFL test is offered once per month at CCLA. CCLA is also an approved TOEIC testing center. The TOEIC test is offered once every two months. Students wishing to take the Cambridge test may also take the class and sign up to take the Cambridge Examination.
